Getting to The Unity Centre

By Train

The Unity Centre is an easy 5 minute walk (1/3 mile) from Lewes railway station, on the way to the town’s main shopping area. Turn right out of the station and right again onto Friars Walk. After two or three minutes, The Unity Centre is on the left.

Lewes railway station is served by regular trains from Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings and London. A typical journey from Brighton is about 16 minutes.

By Bus

Lewes is well served by regular services from Brighton, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Uckfield and Newhaven. Alight at the town centre.

By Car

Lewes is 7 miles from Brighton, 14 miles from Eastbourne.
Drivers using the A27 should enter the town at the eastern end via the Cuilfail Tunnel. After the tunnel, turn left into town and follow the car park signs.

Parking

There are several car parks within easy walking distance:
Friars Walk Car Park (up to 2 hours*) – 2 min walk
Pinwell Road Car Park (up to 8 hours*) – 3 min walk
Eastgate NCP Car Park (up to 4 hours) – 3 min walk
Phoenix Causeway Car Park (up to 8 hours*) – 6-8 min walk
Tesco (believed 2-3 hours free**) – 10-12 min walk
There is also very limited pay-and-display on-street parking* on Friars Walk.

We recommend trying Pinwell Road first, though it can fill up at busy times.

Blue badge parking is generally free (with time limits) in Lewes Council car parks and sometimes free or with concessions in on-street parking bays.

* Lewes Council car parks and on-street parking are pay-and-display and use the RingGo parking app, as well as coins. Here’s a list, with charges.
** Check terms when parking

Disabled access

It’s important to us that everyone should be able to use our services, regardless of access requirements. We have a widened, step-free entrance for those who need it, at the rear of the building, all our facilities are on the ground floor and we have a hoist.

Adjacent to this entrance, we have one private disabled parking space. Please call us in advance on  01273 778400 to reserve this.
