CLASS(ES) TAUGHT & A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF WHAT YOU TEACH:
I teach various different classes; Vinyasa, Power and Yin yoga.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TEACHING AND HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?:
I have been teaching for around 1.5 years. I studied Psychology at university, and afterwards tried to office 9-5 life but lasted around 3 months! I was presented the opportunity of studying yoga in Costa Rica and thought it would be rude to turn down! Since then it has turned into my passion and daily practice.
WHAT DO YOU PARTICULARLY LOVE ABOUT THE FORM OF YOGA THAT YOU TEACH AND HOW HAS YOUR DISCIPLINE BENEFITED YOU PERSONALLY?:
The running theme of my classes is establishing a connection to the breath, in order to become more intimate with the physical body, thus allowing you to feel more – not just on the mat but also off the mat. Personally, this has allowed me to hear my body speaking to me, and I can listen to it, honour it and change anything that needs to be changed in accordance.
WHAT/WHO INSPIRES YOU?:
Many, many people inspire me, to say a few my teacher Paula Tursi was an incredible way to be introduced to the practice. My current teacher also Jax Lysycia, whom I am assisting at her retreats in Ibiza, is incredibly inspiring, encouraging people to feel and find more softness in their practice. The personal experiences I have every time I come to the mat, good or bad, also inspires me to keep coming back, exploring and learning new things.
WHAT CAN SOMEONE EXPECT FROM YOUR CLASS AND WHAT MIGHT THEY TAKE AWAY WITH THEM ?:
It will be 90 minutes of deliciously deep stretching, to fine tune their bodies and easy away any tension. Although the class will be very relaxing, they will leave feeling incredibly light and limber ready for the following week.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE DOING WHEN YOU’RE NOT DOING YOGA?
I like to go walking and swimming. I have a thirst for knowledge so I am always trying to learn about something that is interesting me at the time (for now it is Ayurveda). I love spending time with friends and family. I LOVE eating out (especially vegan food) and exploring new delicious restaurants.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE INSPIRING QUOTE?:
‘If you want something you’ve never had you must be willing to do something you’ve never done’.
