Deep Dating – A Tantric Speed Dating Workshop

With Rose & Jon Skelton Pearson

Saturday 17th August | 7pm – 10pm

Jon and Rose invite you to an evening of speed dating based on the principles of Tantra as taught in John Hawken’s Paths of Transformation.

No previous experience of Tantra is required in order for you to attend. The evening is open to men and women of all ages.

Dating services have become an acceptable part of our busy life style and a sensible, honest and straightforward way of meeting potential friends and partners. Speed dating is logical in enabling the assessment of the greatest number of potential candidates in a given time, but for those of us who are less coldly efficient and more emotionally sensitive, being so swiftly judged can feel superficial, humiliating, and somewhat inhuman. First impressions are important, but what lies under the surface, whether in the other or in myself, also has its value. Deep dating is for those who want to reach under the surface.

The structure for the evening is based on an ancient ritual, the Wheel of Devotion, in which the women sit in a circle and the men travel around the circle until every man has met every woman and every woman has met every man. In the original ritual the participants have the intent of seeing the goddess in every woman or the god in every man. In everyday language we could describe this as meeting in respect and fullness of heart, and honouring the value and uniqueness of every person. This attitude is the key to deep dating. It is about bringing appreciation and valuing to each meeting rather than about undergoing a brutal process of selection and rejection.

To avoid the embarrassment of “what do we say to each other”, many dating services have recently combined the function of meeting people with an activity: dancing, or cooking lessons, to name but two possibilities. In deep dating the activity is Tantra. As you rotate around the group, Jon and Rose will guide each new meeting. Tantra is the art of meeting, the science of relationship, taking into account the needs and the boundaries of mind, body, emotions, energy and spirit. The activity does not distract from meeting, it is the meeting, but given a form through the particular exercise you are led through.

The advantages are:

  • Safety, as the structure is sensitively held from the outside.
  • All are doing the same exercise, which helps reduce self-consciousness.
  • The space is held for deep contact to arise if it is there as a potential between you and your partner.
  • Many of the contacts are non-verbal, enabling you to go beyond the limitations of words and the games of the mind.
  • The Tantric structures are based on the philosophy of respect for each other, of honouring the god in the man and the goddess in the woman. Each meeting is based not on the judgemental mind, but the accepting heart.
  • The atmosphere is one of playful lightness, of fun, of celebration.
  • The meetings invoke the whole person and are invitations to drop the usual social masks.
  • The meetings are structured on the basis of the essence of what relationship is built on – energy.

This evening is for you if you are open to meeting interesting people regardless of whether they turn out to be Mr./Ms Right. You will gain valuable learning and experience in the art of relationship including tools for valuing yourself, self-confidence, staying present, sensitivity, open-mindedness, looking deeper than appearances, and, above all, using the heart more than the mind when meeting somebody new.

…and if you do meet somebody you like, you will both get a discount for attending Deeper Dating, the follow-on workshop held at Unity Studio the following evening, Friday 30th August.

Taoist Erotic Massage for Couples

With Rose & Jon Skelton Pearson

Saturday 31st August | Time TBC

This workshop will introduce you to the sequence of strokes which make up the Taoist Erotic Massage, a traditional structure re-envisioned by Juergen Kalb and a key component of the Transformational Tantric Massage system.

The Taoist Erotic Massage is a full-body oil massage which includes flowing strokes with some acupressure stimulation. Traditionally, this massage includes some light genital touch, although this is not the main focus. The sequence of strokes is designed to open the meridians or nadis (energy channels), allowing a free flow of prana (vital life energy). The receiver can expect to experience deep relaxation with a feeling of full-body aliveness, which is a broader definition of ‘erotic’ and gives the massage its name.

This workshop is open to couples of all orientations including partnerships of friends who are comfortable sharing intimate touch. You will be working exclusively with your partner for the whole day. Personal boundaries will be honoured at all times. No previous experience of massage is necessary.

We look forward to taking this journey with you.

Monthly Sound Meditation

With Joanna McEwen

Sunday 15th September / 6th October / 3rd November / 8th December | 7.30pm – 8.30pm

Joanna is an experienced Sound Therapist, having trained with The College of Sound Healing, British Academy of Sound Therapy and Don ‘the gong’ Conreaux. Her journey with sound began as a teenager when she would soothe her teenage angst with the baroque rhythms of Pachabel’s Cannon. Whilst Djing in her twenties she saw the power of music to move and shift people’s emotions and energies and it was at this time she first came across the research of Fabian Maman on the ability of sound frequencies to explode cancer cells. This lead her to explore sound therapy with James D’Angelo, starting her training in 2008.

This Monthly Sound Meditation is dedicated to healing our physical and energetic body through the use of therapeutic sound. Recalibrating our energy field and aligning ourselves with our highest vibrational frequency has an immediate and profound effect on our health, relationships and the external world around us.

“After suffering with chronic anxiety for several years this therapy, with the sound and the gong, left me in the most wonderful relaxed state. Thank you so much! Left me feeling hopeful again”

Each session is individual and unfolds according to energy of the group present and the intentions set. We use breath awareness and mindfulness to bring ourselves into our body and the present before we journey with the gong, crystal and Himalayan bowls, voice and percussion.

Payment

Exchange is £12. A discount is offered of £30 if you book 3 sessions in advance (to be used within 3 months).
Please pay via paypal joannam001@yahoo.co.uk

A Taste of Tantra: Introductory Evening

With Rose & Jon Skelton Pearson

Saturday 21st September | 7pm – 10pm

This workshop is open to singles and couples.

Tantra is a map that shows us how to tap into the life energy within us, through sex, heart and spirit, that has the power to transform our lives, bringing a new quality of aliveness and awareness into every area of our experience.

Tantra is a non prescriptive path, where everyone can go at their own speed, following their hearts. It is an incredible journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance and ultimately self-love.

During this three hour intro seminar we will guide you through a gentle and safe experience of the basic principles of Tantra. The experience will be fun, sensuous, full of learning and surprises.

There will be no nudity; please wear comfortable clothing.

The principles we will experience are:

  • You are not an island in the ocean of life, but are part of that ocean. You are connected with all of the life around you.
  • You are not a static thing but a flow of energy. You are not any of the forms you embody, but are the energy that transforms from one form to another as you choose, in consciousness and in freedom.
  • Your mind is not limited to thinking, planning, and worrying, but can create awareness, noticing what is in the moment, both within you and around you. The mind creates a virtual reality, while awareness brings you into contact with what is.
  • You are not just your physical body, but are at the same time an energy body, through which you can connect energetically with others.
  • Your flow of energy creates the connection between your sex, your heart and your spirit, and so can lead to an experience of your totality. Through the connectedness and wholeness, within and without, a sense of the sacredness of life, in ourselves and in the other, becomes manifest.

You will gain valuable learning and experience in the art of relationship including tools for valuing yourself, staying present, sensitivity, open-mindedness, looking deeper than appearances, and, above all, using the heart more than the mind in your relating.

Family Constellations Workshops

With Maria Papaspyrou

Sunday 29th October / 24th November | 2pm – 7pm

Systemic Family Constellations offer a powerful way of finding resolutions to deeply felt issues. These issues may arise at home or at work, in our personal or professional relationships, or with our children or family as a whole. Other times they arise in the form of symptoms and limitations that alert us to something that requires our attention.

Most therapeutic approaches tend to focus on the individual, but systemic constellations work identifies the widest possible view on an issue and includes everyone and everything that might have a place. Through a systemic lens we come to see that many of our difficulties arise from unconscious loyalties to the suffering of others in our family, or perhaps the other systems to which we belong. The work returns us to a place of greater strength and wellbeing, resourcing us to be more aligned and available to our lives and those around us.

We will work in a respectful, well held and supported space attending with care to establishing inner connection and outer presence. Systemic constellations workshops are powerful and profound in whatever capacity one attends, whether as an issue holder or a representative because the work focuses on the journey of the human experience that relates to us all.

Systemic family Constellations work can benefit those that are:

  • experiencing family conflict
  • wanting to create healthy and satisfying relationships
  • trying to heal past trauma
  • struggling with serious life issues, including physical or mental health problems, addictions, painful relationship patterns, or career struggles
  • experiencing grief
  • working in therapeutic, healing and spiritual professions that want to enrich their practices with new insights about health and human behaviour
  • wanting more love, freedom, and clarity in their lives and relationships

About Maria

Maria Papaspyrou, MSc, is a BACP accredited integrative psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience. She has completed a two year systemic family constellations training with the Centre for Systemic Constellations (CSC) and has been taught by Judith Hemming, Gaye Donaldson, Chris Williams, Jutta ten Herkel and Richard Wallstein. She is currently assisting at the Foundation training in CSC.
