Our weekend schedule

A taste of what to expect

The retreat is led, as in previous years, by Sevanti, the founder of Unity. You can read more about Sevanti here. Sevanti has been leading retreats across the world since 1998 – more than half of them in our regular destination of Faralya, Turkey, where she has a close relationship with many local people. Each retreat is bespoke to the group’s and individuals’ needs.

Unity yoga

Our yoga classes, led by Sevanti, are for all levels of yoga experience.

Unity hatha yoga is flowing and restorative, taking you on a journey through asanas, breathing techniques, and yoga nidra (deep relaxation). The class will begin with relaxation and meditation, with specific pranayama techniques to increase vitality, relax, and clear the mind. We gently warm up the body and flow through a series of backward and forward bending, twisting, and lateral movements, inversions, balances, and standing poses.

Restorative yoga and yoga nidra – On Friday evening we will bring in the retreat with restorative yoga before dinner and then end the day with the deep relaxation of pranayama and noga nidra in the warmth and comfort of the retreat centre.

Open Floor Dance

Open Floor is a mindful movement practice offering accessibility to all, through the expressive and meditative expression of dance. It can be deeply restorative, invigorating, inspiring and empowering. As an intelligent somatic practice, Open Floor explores 10 fundamental resources to assist us in our every day lives, at home or work and in our community.

Sevanti loves teaching this conscious movement practice in a nurturing, liberating yet sacred framework; with no pressure/expectation or mould to fit into.

The Open Floor curriculum offers a thorough deep dive into the four dimensions of embodiment and the four relational needs, through organic movement and meditation. A natural embodiment practice that offers a wide range of experience, whether it be fun and free or deeply therapeutic and healing.

Massage and treatments

Over the weekend we are offering a range of optional massages and treatment.

Sarah Jennings

Portrait of Sarah Jennings, massage therapistWe’re delighted to be joined by Sarah Jennings. Sarah has more than 16 years’ experience as a massage practitioner and more than 18 years as a yoga teacher and she will be offering a variety of therapies and sessions that promote health and wellbeing for all.

The therapies Sarah offers include:

Pulsing

A body mind therapy. Sometimes it is referred to as the Thai chi of massage. It’s been around since 1970 but not widely known.

Pulsing is carried out while you are fully clothed on a massage couch. It’s worked on through rhythmic rocking movement which stimulates the energy flow, which tunes in to the body’s natural rhythms and allows the recipient to feel nurtured and supported. It can be deeply relaxing allowing a release of physical, emotional and psychological tension and stress.

Pulsing helps to promote mobility, flexibility and balance. Altogether a wonderful mind body therapy to receive.

Thai yoga massage

An ancient body work that is carried out fully clothed on a padded futon. Breath work begins the session to aid relaxation. This is followed with: Gentle stretches and applied yoga asanas (postures); Rhythmic Acupressure Massage that is applied to the feet and legs.

The rest of the body enjoys this rhythmic acupressure technique, which flows through the whole body aiding: deep relaxation; fluidity within the joints, improving movement; release of muscular tension and helping to release stagnant energy within the Sen lines (through the energetic body). Through bodywork and healing we can begin to open up and create space allowing mental, physical, emotional and spiritual freedom and wellbeing.

Thai yoga massage can also be light, deeply relaxing and energising. Oils on the back can also be enjoyed in this wonderful massage if preferred.

Chair massage / seated acupressure massage

Designed to leave recipients relaxed, recharged and refreshed ready for the day ahead. This makes it great for those in the workplace but can equally be beneficial for those looking for some relaxation and rejuvenation.

The sessions offer a welcome break, resting the eye, releasing tension built up in the back, neck and shoulder area. This tension can build from being sedentary for long periods, or through poor posture.

The recipient is seated on an ergonomically designed chair, fully clothed. This makes it a very effective massage in any environment, targeting the area of the upper body. Aiding in relaxation, vitality, posture awareness, releasing muscular tension and improving circulation. Theses are some of the many benefits of recieving this massage.

Sevanti

The therapies Sevanti will be offering are:

Reiki

Reiki means ‘Universal Life Energy’. It has the highest and purest frequency of energy to recenter and balance us. It feeds our energy systems so that our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies work with efficiency and harmony. It originated in Tibet over 2500 years ago and was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the late 1800s.

As a healing channel, Reiki to flows through the Practitioner to the Receiver as pure, warm, nourishing energy. Reiki flows through clothing; there is a feeling of deep relaxation, lightness and a strong sense of support, protection and trust. All of the body’s systems will receive this wonderful energy and stronger will-power, clarity, sense of purpose and contentment will be made available. Reiki is not a belief-system, all that is required is an open mind and a will to accept the healing ability within.

Reiki and crystal healing

Precious gemstones are chosen for the receiver’s needs and are placed around the body and on the chakra points. Reiki & Crystal healing are combined, to invite peace/balance/inspiration, or whatever is needed at the time. Crystal & Tibetan singing bowls are also used, with the cleansing intention of sage and aura-soma to further deepen the healing journey.

Holistic oil massage

Holistic oil massage works on every level of the individual: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. A thorough consultation initiates a sacred journey of massage and energy work.

Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage releases chronic muscle tension and helps to treat muscle pain and stiffness. A lovely deep-relief remedy to free you from tension and increase flexibility.

Or a combination of all.
