Floatation suite improvements

We're making our floatation suite even better but this does mean some disruption from 21–31 August 2023

ALMOST OVER

Our refurbishments are nearly completed and we’re reopening this Friday, 1 September!

WHAT’S HAPPENING

From Monday 21 to Thursday 31 August 2023, we’re improving our floatation suite to make floats more comfortable and improve our energy efficiency. To make the building work possible for these ten days, we’re closing our reception, floatation suite and sauna, plus one of our studios and one of our therapy rooms …. but we’re not stopping classes, workshops or massage therapies, and bookings remain available here online and on the ‘Unity yoga’ app.

The Centre will reopen properly on 1 September (and the floatation suite on 2 September).

We’ve chosen the quietest time of year to do this but it inevitably means some disruption to classes and spa services. Here’s what you can expect.

CLASSES

Until the end of Wednesday, 30 August, classes have a revised timetable:

  • Some weekday classes have moved to our neighbours The Open Door and a few are online. The rest continue at The Unity Centre. Unfortunately, a small number have had to be cancelled because of the changes and teacher holidays.
  • Weekend classes continue as normal at The Unity Centre.
  • All classes go back to normal, at The Unity Centre, from Thursday 31 August onwards.

It’s essential that you please check your class on our live online timetable, well in advance, to see where it is. You can also check on the ‘Unity yoga’ app. And, of course, you can continue to book class places here on our website or on the ‘Unity yoga’ app.

Where to go for classes

If your class is at The Unity Centre, please enter via our disabled entrance at the rear. Our main door is closed and there are no reception services.

If your class is at The Open Door, please go straight to The Open Door, Church Twitten, next to 32 High Street, Lewes, BN7 2LU. (Please don’t come to The Unity Centre as there will be no-one to help redirect you.)

If your class is online, you are sent details by email when you book your place.

And remember, our normal timetable resumes on Thursday 31 August.

WORKSHOPS & PERFORMANCES

Our weekend workshops continue in the Unity Centre as normal.

On Saturday 26 August, 1.30pm, we have Gong Journeys with Clare Potts. This is in The Unity Centre as normal.

And Narayani’s Devotional Evening of Kirtan takes place as normal on the evening of Friday 1 September.

MASSAGE THERAPIES

We’re still offering massage therapies and treatments at The Unity Centre. However, there’s a reduced number of appointments available so we advise early booking.

Appointments are being held in The Cabin at the rear of the Centre. We have no reception services and no waiting area so please go straight round to rear, to meet your therapist at The Cabin at the start of your appointment.

Normal service resumes on Friday 1 September.

FLOATS AND SAUNAS

Our floatation and sauna suites are closed for these ten days.

Saunas resume on Friday 1 September.

Floats resume on Saturday 2 September.

Meanwhile, you can continue to make float appointments, sauna appointments and spa package bookings online or on the ‘Unity yoga’ app.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

We’re finally able to bring in some substantial improvements to our floatation suite, thanks to the help of a grant generously awarded by Screwfix. Benefits include new screening and a lower partial ceiling which will keep the pool’s open and airy feel while capturing more heat rising from the water and keeping it from dispersing across the room. More warm air above the water will improve the pool’s heating efficiency (and therefore energy efficiency) and also enhance pool users’ comfort, with less of a difference between the water temperature and the air temperature above the surface.

It means we’re upgrading the pool’s energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and comfort.

Thank you for your understanding.
